2/5/2008 The Tower of EurobabbleMy essays, rare as they are, are intended to delve into the strange similarities
between variious languages of the European Community Borrowings and
assimilations between various languages have been known for thousands
of years, but we are now moving closer to erecting a modern Tower of Babel.
The reason for that phenimenon is simple: the internet and blogging which
is now approaching the proportions of a verbal tsunami. It may be causing an initial
babble of too many voices , but we will gradually discovered that common language
which existed before the confusion deliberately brought about but the mysterious
Yahve (Gen.11:7,9) with his unnamed helpers ("Let us, go down and confuse")
Now it's the time to start unravelling that babble of voices by finding familiar arrangements
of letters in every language. Quite a task, but what fun! Ciao.
21/11/2005 THE EYE OF THE STORM"The..dreadful calm within the whirl, to which sailors have given the name of 'the eye of the storm' " (anon)
Have you ever experienced a hurricane, whirlwind, tornado, typhoon or cyclone in your life? No, I don't mean those untameable, elemental winds that, in their unpredictable fury, sweep across across many parts of the world. What I have in mind are those unexpected changes that come upon us suddenly like a whirlwind or a hurricane. It seems that life keeps those wild spinners in readiness to send them to us when we have sunk too deep in complacency or deserve another learning experience. Our peaceful existence may be first overshadowed by forebodings or events that loom on the horizon like dark clouds, casting long shadows and filling us with disquiet. We may sense that approaching wind of change, though we cannot predict its strength or disruption it may cause until it is upon us. The moment it arrives, we are swept by its sheer force. We know that the change has began. That is the moment when we should seek the "eye of the storm", that unearthly calm and peace at the very heart of the raging elements, the oasis of tranquility at the centre of the unstoppable spiral of change. When you feel that a change in your life approaching or, perhaps, it is already upon you , remember that you are a creative "artist" who can paint his own picture of tranquility which is that vital "eye of the storm". Put that picture into your heart and mind and ride the whirlwind.
